Bringing to mind the works of Joe Hisaishi, The Orb and even early 0PN, Soft Confidence is an excellent collection of ambient music, full of very moving passages interspersed with moments of deep introspection. Filled with sounds both warbly and warm along with the clear and crystalline, it's ambient just as I like it!

Made over the space of a month in London in 2017, this album is an ambient, new age exploration suite in 8 parts. Inspired by the vast energy of the city - slowed down x 1000.
This album is instrumental.
"Richard Pike utilises his D E E P L E A R N I N G solo project as an outlet for issuing waves of beatless instrumental beauty.... Soft Confidence fits comfortably into the tradition of Vangelis at his seventies peak: lush and melodic new age compositions, seemingly telling a vague narrative and sewn together by a core concept.... Impeccably crafted, Deep Learning is the luscious background you deserve, scraping away the noise and junk to reveal the constant drift that ties everything together."
- Tristan Bath, The Quietus.

LIke tman1015, I am a little scared of this album. It is a deeply shocking and accurate musical portrayal of senile dementia -inasmuch as I've (sadly) observed members of friends and family become gradually subsumed by it.
Yet it is captivating, there are many moments of beauty along the way. I cannot stop going back for another listen.
I wonder if anyone (apart from the artist) has managed to listen all the way through in one sitting. I am not even close to managing yet. Simon Woolf
